I've recently started getting into photography within the last couple of years. My main medium has always been drawing or painting, but something about photography just captures me. A really good friend of mine is a photography major at FIT and has kind of my inspiration to try it out. Her pictures are fun, energetic, upbeat, with a hint of nostalgia to them and I could never get tired of looking or watching what she does.
I took a film class in high school and also in my first semester of college. I really enjoyed working with film and being in the darkroom because it made me feel more attached to my work. Plus, I feel that there's a certain kind of 'magic' element to working in the darkroom that makes it so addicting. I kind of consider myself to be computer illiterate, and I've always shied away from photo shop or anything digital for that matter. It really intimidates me, not going to lie. I hope that this class will help me become more confident with working digitally as well as strengthen my photography skills. I'm still new to this medium and hope to learn as much as I can to make me become a more well-rounded artist.
